New season beckons

Although the weather has shown a turn for the worse, the water is just what the courts needed after a dressing of nearly 2 tons of new shale. This weekend we need to put the finishing touches to no 3 Court and we will then be in a position to put the nets up and start the season. We need a group of people on Saturday & Sunday as there are a lot of little jobs need doing. If the weather is poor, still come down as there is some work needed inside the pavilion.

A most sincere thanks to all who have been coming down, mainly at the weekend, but perhaps a special thanks to Roger Hardy who has cut the grass, repaired the rotten woodwork - especially on the roof and single handedly painting much of the outside.

For those men who would like to play some team tennis, there will be a get together on Tuesday evening after 6 pm to try and work out who is available for selection. We need 12 players each week which with people being away effectively means about 18 players, so everyone has an opportunity, including the younger players who perhaps would not think they had a chance. Ladies' matches start Monday 30th April and Men's Matches start 1st May

There will be an opening day on 5th May from 10 am. We are trying to arrange coaching, but will have to let you know the arrangements later. Bring along your friends as all welcome and for newcomers there will be special introductory rates. For the rest of us, the fees will be same as last year.

Thanks for reading the Blog site We are currently the second club in the Google search under " Tennis Huddersfield" behind Huddersfield Tennis & Squash Club, due in no small part to your checking it. It had 87 hits in March. I know its not very riveting but it gets us found by people searching!

Hope to see you down at the club soon.
